We are learning to name and describe all the planets in the solar system at the moment. Here is a song about the planets we like to listen to. This song describes whats happening on the planet Earth. Listen to it and try to repeat five facts you learn! This week we read the story 'Aliens Love Underpants' by Claire Freedman. The illustrator is Ben Cort. Listen to the story again .... We decided we would create our own alien character who might feature in a book some day! Here are some of the characters that featured in the book.... ... Here are some of our fantastic illustrations! On the final day of school before our Christmas holidays a special visitor came in to say hello before he started his big journey ! We made clay Christmas decorations. Here we are holding them up. The decorations are in shapes of different symbols associated with Christmas ; sleighs, Christmas trees, stockings, angels, candy canes, Santa hats, gloves, stars and many more. Ms Stokes has organised a crib display in the P.E. hall in our school. Some children from room 12 made cribs for the display. We really enjoyed looking at them and identifying what materials they used for their cribs. Well done to all involved! They are great :) We are learning to give instructions. Can you remember what kinds of verbs we use? Today we read a story about a snowman. Can you remember the seven details on the snowman .... Here is some help! We worked on giving instructions on 'How to build a Snowman'. First we decided on the materials we would need to build a snowman. Finally we listed our instructions. We made our Christmas decorations today. We used robin, pudding and christmas tree templates. We decorated them with bright colours and glitter. Have a look! Next week we are starting 'Shared Reading' in our classroom. We are going to work in pairs and read books together. We will then ask each other questions and write about the book. We revising our 5 W's and 1 H this week to prepare. List your six question words now before looking at the picture! We asked each other questions today about our Sails Books. Today was very exciting. We designed, decorated and put up our class Christmas tree. Everybody in Room 12 helped. The result was great! Can you put the words around our tree into sentences? Can you list the materials we used? Can you list the instructions for how we made the Christmas tree? Post your answers as a comment. Today we painted trees. We remembered that trees lost their leave in Autumn so now they are bare. We used cotton wool for snow and some silver glitter for rain. We think they look great! Please have a look! We are working on positional language this week. Can you remember the words we use to describe where things are? We drew Christmas scenes while listening to teacher's instructions. Have a look at the pictures below and describe where everything is in the pictures. "Santa is peeking out from behind the colourfully decorated Christmas tree". This week we learnt a lot of words to describe the season of Winter. How many can you think of? Please have a look at our snowflakes below! We will tell you about the different things that happen during Winter. We have been learning about bundles of 10. We have been making bundles of 10 with straws and lollipop sticks. Here are two really fun games to play. You have to figure out the number shown on the screen and then click on the right answer. This week we worked as illustrators. We designed book covers for a story set in the underwater world. They are fantastic. We have started learning words to describe the weather. Have a look at some words we thought of!
