Welcome back. We are glad to hear that everyone had a super Mid-Term break. Just a quick note to tell you about two events.

1. Our class will be going to G.A.A. classes for the next five weeks on a Tuesday morning, commencing tomorrow Tuesday 25th. Children are asked to wear their tracksuit on this day . These classes are in addition to  P.E. on a Thursday.

2. The annual school dinner dance is taking place on Saturday 1st March in the Crowne Plaza in Blanchardstown. Tickets are priced at €40 and are on sale until Friday 28th at 9 am.

We came up with lots of different questions in class. We used our 5W'S and a H to help us. Here are some we came up with .....

• Why did he leave his planet?

Congratulations to Philip Byrne who is the representative for Room 12 on St. Brigid's Green Schools Committee.

Philip will be working with Ms. McIntyre and Ms. Connolly as they help make our school greener.

We have learnt all about Saint Valentine.

• All of us wrote a piece about St. Valentine's life. He lived in Rome, Italy 2,000 years ago!
  

• We made hearts, as they are a symbol of St. Valentine and his feast day February 14th. Inside these hearts we drew the pictures of love and decorated them.

Hi Sally and Nessa here. We learnt lots about Saint Valentine. Saint Valentine was a nice man. He was a saint. There was a man Cladius. He was a nasty emperor. Cladius had a  army. His army was getting weak because the soldiers missed their wives. Then Saint Valentine felt sorry for the army. Then Cladius got mad because Saint Valentine was letting them go home. Cladius made a law that the army were not allowed marry anymore. Then Saint Valentine was marrying people in secret. Then Cladius found out that they were marring in secret. Saint Valentine got sent to jail. In jail Saint Valentine met a girl. She was the prison officers daughter. The girl was blind. Everyday the girl brought bread to Saint Valentine  Cladius said to pray for the Gods of Rome and not to pray for any other God. Valentine said no I will pray for my God. But then he got executed on February 14th 207 A.D. Before he died he sent a card to the police officers daughter. He signed it From Your Valentine. He became a Saint and February 14th became a feast day. Now everyone sends cards on this day. Instead of signing their names they sign From Your Valentine.

This week was the first week of Spring. We read the book 
'The Snow Lambs' by Debi Gliori 
as we begin to learn about all the things that happen in Spring.

Hello this is Doireann and Rachel. We are going to tell you about Pluto.

1. Pluto was discovered in 1930 with its moon Charon.
2. It was moved into a new group called the dwarf planets.
3. There are now eight planets: Mercury, Venus Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

Hi, this is Karl and Luke here. We had a great time watching the planets song. You can listen to other songs after! We know that the sun is a star. It is made out of gas. It is in the shape of a sphere. Pluto is no longer a planet. It is a dwarf planet.
